About Life in Steps
Hi, and welcome to Life in Steps! We make practical, honest guides for the everyday stuff: the laptop that won't stop lagging, the hair that won't behave, and the routines that make busy weeks a little calmer.
Who we are
Life in Steps is an independent blog written by a small team. Each writer covers the topics they know best:
- Emma Collins, Beauty & Lifestyle Writer. Emma writes about curly and wavy hair, simple self-care routines and everyday home life. She turns dermatologist guidance and reader questions into clear, step-by-step advice.
- Ryan Mitchell, Tech & How-To Writer. Ryan covers everyday tech, gadgets and practical how-tos — from speeding up a laptop to planning a week of meals. He turns official documentation into plain-English steps.
The idea behind the site is simple: most advice online is either too vague to be useful or too complicated to follow. We wanted a place where every article answers a real question with clear steps, realistic expectations and no fluff, the kind of guide you'd happily save to Pinterest and come back to.
What we cover
Everything on Life in Steps falls into a few topics we know and care about:
- Tech: Simple explanations, setup guides and smart tips for the gadgets and apps you use every day.
- Hair Care: Routines, treatments and styling guides for healthy, shiny hair — for every hair type.
- How-To: Step-by-step guides that help you get things done faster and better.
- Home & Life: Ideas and habits that make everyday life easier, calmer and more organized.
Our editorial standards
Every article goes through the same process before it's published (read the full editorial policy):
- Research. We start with reliable sources, such as dermatology associations, official manufacturer support pages and government food safety guidance, rather than repeating what other blogs say.
- Testing. Wherever possible, we try the techniques, settings and routines ourselves before recommending them, and we're upfront when something is based on research rather than hands-on experience.
- Sourcing. When we make a factual claim about health, safety or technology, we link to an authoritative source so you can check it yourself.
- Plain language. We explain things the way a knowledgeable friend would: specific numbers, real steps and no jargon without an explanation.
- Updating. Software changes, products change and research moves on. We review our guides regularly and show the date an article was last updated.
- Corrections. If we get something wrong, we fix it. Tell us about an error at hello@lifeinsteps.com, and we'll check it and correct the article promptly, noting significant corrections in the article itself.
Why you can trust us
We don't promise miracle results, and we'll never tell you a product is a must-have just because it's popular. Where a topic touches on health, such as hair loss or scalp problems, we say clearly when it's time to see a dermatologist or another professional instead of trying another tip.
We also keep editorial decisions separate from money. Advertisers don't see or approve our articles, and we don't accept payment for positive coverage.
How we make money
Life in Steps is free to read. To cover the costs of running the site, we display ads through Google AdSense. In the future, some articles may include affiliate links, and if they do, we'll label them clearly. You can read the details in our Disclaimer and learn how advertising cookies work in our Privacy Policy.
